THE 5 DAY, 2010 CLASS is based at Sorensen's Resort in Hope Valley. JOIN THE EXCITEMENT of painting on location with Lady Jill Mueller at 7,000 feet in the High Sierra. Your paintings come to life as you come alive to the embracing fall air, aspen groves ablaze with color, with camaraderie in the afternoon around the cafe fire. THE CLASS STARTS MONDAY MORNING on location with a demonstration and class participation. Daily classes are from 9 AM to 1 PM. Locations vary, such as Hope, Faith and Charity valleys, Carson Pass, Woods Lake,etc. THERE WILL BE A CLASS CRITIQUE at the end of Wednesday and Friday, with plenty of daily one-on-one help. Jill will demonstrate her transparent watercolor techniques with emphasis on capturing drama with values. Towards the end of the week she will explain and show finishing paintings. Please note: all classes are held plein-air ( in the field ) so students need to have some experience painting. Beginners are welcome, but realize that you will be painting outdoors, which isn't the easiest. You will however, gain a great deal of painting information working alongside Jill. Questions? They do offer a discount that week, 4 nights for the price of 3. Most cabins are self-catering, with kitchens. They have a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and can provide picnic bag-lunches, upon request, preferably ordered the night before. Also there is complimentary coffee, tea, and cocoa as well as a complimentary glass of wine each afternoon....all served up to 5:00 PM. Cancellation Policy - See below.
Sorensens is located in Hope Valley just east of the junction of Hwy 88 and Hwy 89, south of Lake Tahoe.
There is a sauna available for guests and full service restaurant on the property. Sorensens' also host their own campground .

Sketch book Pencils: HB and 6B Paper: What your accustomed to working with or 300# cold press, cut into quarter or half sheets Painting Board : sized for quarter and/or half sheets with 4 bulldog or bankers clips Brushes: #6 and 12 rounds, 1 1/2" flat wash brush, 1/2" bristle brush (like the kind for oils) Paints: I use Daniel Smiths' watercolors (1-800-426-6740) Winsor Newton colors are acceptable. Anthraquinoid Red, Aureolin, Sap Green, Organic Vermillion, Hansa Yellow Light, Olive Green, French Ultramarine Blue, Raw Sienna, Sepia, Cobalt Blue, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber Fun Colors!! Quinacridone Rose, Gold and Coral Misc. Items: Water containers (2), Adjustable spray bottle, paper towels and soft rags Large Backpack or canvas bag to carry items Also valuable are: sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, sturdy shoes and a wide variety of clothing to layer as weather is ususally unpredictable.
